Stanley Surform 5-21-399: compact rasp for plasterboard edges

The job
Use a rasp to take down a small amount of board edge and check the fit frequently. For a larger correction, revisit the cut rather than expecting the small rasp to remove a lot of material quickly.
The model and spare blade
Match model 5-21-399 and its 140 mm blade. Stanley lists a replacement blade, 5-21-398, for this model. Verify compatibility on the manufacturer listing before buying spares.
Site handling
Keep the workpiece supported and manage dust according to the job. A worn blade or excessive pressure can make a neat edge harder to achieve.
